FREEZER CHALLENGE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

In 2020, the University of Illinois came in 1st place in the International Freezer Challenge competition. Because of our continuous success, we were awarded the Winning Streak Award.

Once again, our top labs were awarded gift certificates to high-end dining establishments in the Champaign-Urbana area, as well as Certificates in Leadership in Sustainable Lab Practices.

As a whole, the 21 labs that participated in 2020 saved 263kWh/day. This was enough energy to power 9 U.S. standard homes. Internationally, the competition amounted to 32 million kWh saved annually.
