In 2024, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign proudly earned the Top Organization Award in the Academic category. This year saw our greatest lab participation and energy savings to date, with an astounding 55% increase in the number of lab groups participating! This amazing accomplishment earned UIUC a highlight in Lab Manager Magazine!

Our top labs were awarded with gift certificates to high-end dining establishments in the Champaign-Urbana area, as well as Certificates in Leadership in Sustainable Lab Practices.

In total, 146 laboratories participated, leading to our highest energy savings to date. The efforts of these labs saved 1338 kWh per day, enough energy to power 44.5 standard U.S. homes for a year!
